Elizabeth Sutton is very vocal in fighting anti semitism, and for her that means communicating through her art. Elizabeth has expanded her Judaica artworks, beginning with this piece, ‘Eishet Chayil’ which is an image of her lighting Friday night Shabbat candles. It is her most cherished tradition that she observes within the Jewish religion. ‘Eishet Chayil’ meaning “woman of valor” is a term found in Proverbs written by King Soloman. This poem is traditionally sung on Friday nights as an ode to feminine strength and a show of appreciation for the woman of the house. This print depicts Elizabeth herself lighting Shabbat candles over in an outdoor setting. The different shades of blues and whites radiate an angelic, spiritual, and holy vibe. Also featured in this exquisite print are challot and a kiddush cup, the bread and wine that are part of Shabbat meals.
